Learn or teach mathematics using 25 games for different grades.
All games contained in Apps in Math application are designed to motivate pupils to learn mathematics and improve their mathematical knowledge and also attitudes towards mathematics. Almost all games have several levels of escalating difficulty. Pupils receive automatic feedback, which helps them to learn. In some of the games there is also learn level, in which basic concepts and relations are explained, so pupil doesn’t need to know much of the theme before playing the game. The games are divided into 5 categories and focusing on various mathematical topics:
Numbers – Roman numbers; Divisibility of numbers; Fractions; Addition and subtraction of whole numbers
Functions – Linear function; Trigonometric functions; Arithmetic and Geometric sequences; Expressions; Quadratic function; Logarithms
Geometry – Point symmetry; Coordinate system; Triangle similarity; Plan of cube construction; Top, front and side view of cube construction; Angles
Chance – Combinatorics; Statistics; Probability
Logics – Propedeutic of Diophantine equations; Truth values of statements; Strategic thinking
These games were implemented and tested within the Slovak-Norwegian project Apps in Math (www.project-aim.eu), which was co-funded by the EEA Grants and the state budget of the Slovak Republic from the EEA Scholarship Program Slovakia. University students and teachers from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and from Norwegian University of Science and technology in Trondheim, Norway have cooperated and have designed and created all these games.
